Government Spending through GSA & VA Schedules

The GSA & VA Schedules are the most widely used government contracts with over $40 billion in annual sales. The contracts are designed to streamline the government procurement process, in part because they contain pre-negotiated pricing, terms, and conditions. In fiscal year 2017, GSA Schedule sales to federal, state, and local government buyers exceeded $45 billion, coming in at $45,097,514,584 to be exact.

The chart below details fiscal year 2017 GSA Schedule sales by Schedule, along with the number of companies that held each Schedule. The GSA Information Technology (IT) Schedule 70 Contract is the largest of all Schedules in terms of sales and number of companies that hold the contract. The IT Schedule consistently accounts for the highest sales each year, followed by the VA Pharmaceuticals & Drugs Schedule.

While there are some exceptions, GSA/VA Schedule Contracts can be used to sell most commercially available products and services. Learn more about the GSA Schedules and watch a 2-minute explanation of how to obtain a GSA Schedule Contract.
