RFI for “Enhanced” SINs on GSA Hardware Schedule 51 V
On April 3rd GSA released a Request for Information (RFI) regarding new, enhanced SINs on the GSA Hardware Superstore Schedule 51 V Contract. The goal is to improve the procurement of Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) part numbered products, and to possibly serve in replacement of the next Federal Strategic Sourcing Initiative (FSSI) MRO BPA.
One thing current Schedule 51 V contractors should note is the proposal to prohibit contractors from holding both the existing SIN and its corresponding enhanced SIN. For example, should a contractor hold SIN 105 002 and then add the enhanced SIN 105 xxx, the products move to the new enhanced SIN and would lose SIN 105 002.
Another proposed change would allow agencies to place BPAs through the new SINs directly. This would make it easier for agencies to place repeat orders.
Of the five questions posed to contractors in the RFI, three questions focus on pricing, asking for contractors to discuss methods for lowering prices. The RFI questions signal the importance for the enhanced SIN to improve pricing of current MRO offerings.
GSA is requiring submission of all RFI responses by 1pm eastern time on Wednesday, May 3rd.
All of the goals, features, and questions about the proposed enhanced SIN(s) can be found in the RFI here.
