The GSA Advantage Website is About to Get a Refresh
GSA is in the process of redesigning, GSA Advantage!, the online shopping website government buyers can use to search, compare, and purchase GSA Schedule products. While services don’t typically lend themselves to online purchases, government buyers can also use Advantage to search for GSA approved service providers. A soft launch of the redesigned website was originally anticipated in the next few weeks, however we’ve been told to expect delays.
GSA Advantage – Background and Stats
The GSA Advantage online shopping platform includes millions of GSA Schedule products and accounts for more than half a billion in annual sales. In fiscal year 2019, government buyers placed over 1 million orders through GSA Advantage totaling more than $670 million in sales. Advantage, like the GSA Schedule in general, provides buyers with easy access to Trade Agreements Act (TAA) compliant products at pre-negotiated pricing.
Who is Eligible to Sell on GSA Advantage?
When a company is awarded a GSA Schedule Contract, they’re not just permitted to sell on GSA Advantage, they’re required to do so. All companies that receive a GSA Schedule Contract award must upload their approved catalog and pricelist to GSA Advantage.
Who is Eligible to Buy Products through GSA Advantage?
All federal government agencies are eligible to purchase products through GSA Advantage. State and local government can purchase IT and security related solutions through GSA Advantage. Additionally, state and local government buyers can purchase GSA Schedule products and services to prepare for or recover from a disaster.
GSA Advantage – New and Improved?
It’s been nearly a decade since GSA last announced a refresh of the GSA Advantage website. What can government buyers and GSA Schedule Contract holders expect from this latest redesign? The overall improved look is less cluttered, easier to navigate, and mobile friendly. You can preview the new website and see for yourself at https://refresh.gsaadvantage.gov/.
We understand that some GSA Advantage users may be skeptical of the upcoming changes. To be fair, design and usability don’t always go hand in hand. We’ve seen government websites relaunch with beautiful designs, but loss of functionality. We are happy to report that the 2020 GSA Advantage redesign does not appear to make this mistake. From our initial test searches, the new Advantage website retains all the information and search functionality of the current website.
