GSA released the “High Baseline Requirements” for FedRAMP so that high-impact data can be stored in the cloud. As it stands, federal agencies dedicates roughly 50% of all IT spending to protecting that information. These requirements give cloud service providers an opportunity to prove their worth to agencies still skeptical to transition to the cloud for sensitive information.
GSA hopes that the enhanced requirements on cloud security will give agencies peace of mind when transitioning to the cloud and encourage agencies still housing data centers for high impact information to make the switch to cloud storage.
