New GSA IT Schedule 70 SIN
Cybersecurity National Action Plan (CNAP) Highly Adaptive Cybersecurity Services (HACS) Workshop
On Monday, June 13, 2016 the General Services Administration (GSA) hosted a workshop, both in person and virtually, to discuss cybersecurity with agency and industry partners. While the daylong event did contain lots of information pertinent to cybersecurity as it affects the government, below is a summarization of the proposed changes to GSA Information Technology (IT) Schedule 70 Contract.
Giovanni Onwuchekwa led the conversation about what changes cybersecurity would bring to Schedule 70. A Request for Information (RFI) had been posted in April to gain industry feedback about selling cybersecurity services through the GSA IT Schedule 70 Contract. The feedback was largely focused on what services are currently being offered by the industry and through what means.
The goal of the cybersecurity SIN is to support the President’s Cybersecurity National Action Plan and provide a government wide solution to cybersecurity issues while reducing contract duplication.
HACS SIN Timeline
- June 21 – Second RFI for the Proposed Cybersecurity SIN will Close
- June 27 – Publish RFI Results
- August 12 – Post Cybersecurity SIN Solicitation to GSA Interact
- September 12 – Publish New Cybersecurity SIN
The proposed solution is intended to thoroughly vet vendors, create flexibility to adapt to changing market needs and to encourage the participation of new and innovative vendors.
The HACS SIN will include incident response, penetration testing and reactive hunt broken out over the following two new SINs:
- SIN 132-##A Proactive IT Security Services for Penetration Testing
- SIN 132-##B Reactive IT Security Services for Incident Response and Reactive Hunt
All updates related to the cybersecurity SIN will be posted on GSA Interact IT Schedule Group. Interested companies that do not currently hold a GSA IT Schedule 70 Contract will be put through the FASt Lane Program. New offers can be processed through the FASt Lane Program in as quickly as 45 days.
